Shay Healy meets two people in Rathfarnham who have given their gardens a very individual stamp.
Judy Pegnam has a fascination with gnomes and has spent years building up a collection which can be found in her garden a landmark in Rathfarnham. Judy Pegnam is not the only collector in the family. Her daughter Ann has twenty two dogs including Melissa, Jenny, Grainne, Beauty, Lady, and her favourite Dexter.
Philip and Evelyn Byrne, who also live in Rathfarnham, also have an unusual garden. Their garden contains memorabilia including old water pumps, religious statues, chimney pots, an aviary, and a bus stop found in a lake in the Dublin mountains. One of their prize possessions is a fully grown peacock. The couple enjoys the notoriety of having a landmark garden.
