The town of Boyle in Roscommon has been buying works of modern art.

A unique collection of modern art goes on display in County Roscommon as part of the Boyle Arts Festival.

The arts festival committee believe that the acquisition of an art collection in Boyle will help to put the town on the tourist map.

Some of the country's most challenging modern art.

Barry Feeley, Chairman of the Boyle Arts Festival, says that the art collection is unique to a town of Boyle's size.

With £15,000 collected locally, twenty five works of art have been purchased with the hope they will become the centrepiece of a major collection.

Fergus Ahern, of the Boyle Arts Festival, is delighted that the town is now giving Dublin a run for its money when it comes to art.

The festival was launched by Minister for Arts and Culture Michael D Higgins who said that Boyle has set a magnificent example for the rest of the country to follow.
