Waterford honours the new World Cross Country Champion John Treacy.
Members from Waterford athletic and youth clubs took part in a two mile victory march through the city. This was followed by a civic reception at City Hall to honour 20 year old John Treacy, winner of the sixth World Cross Country Championship which took place last week in Glasgow.
Chairman of Waterford County Council, Charles Curran spoke at the event and Mayor of Waterford, Tim Galvin presented John Treacy with a piece of Waterford Glass.
Two other Waterford athletes, Ray Treacy and Gerry Deegan also took part in the World Championships.
