Hardship for farmers and residents living near Lough Reane in Fenagh, County Leitrim.
Inclement weather is being felt across the country but in Fenagh, County Leitrim the flooding problem at the River Reane at Tully Lough is particularly bad.
Farmer Sean Meehan resorts to using a boat to get through the flood waters to feed his livestock and reach his prefabricated home.
The 70 year old resident of Tully Lane in the Fenagh area makes this trip twice a week since flooding struck. He is living in his old landlocked farmhouse which has no facilities and is fire damaged.
It's unbelievable you just have to build yourself into a frame of mind, I don’t know what could be worse, I’m like a hermit.
Leitrim County Council have raised Tully Lane by six foot to enable local access, but beyond that almost 150 acres of farmland is submerged.
Farmers are not the only ones feeling the hardship. Local residents Deirdre and Seamus Ellis are also having to find ways of living with flooding.
People have had enough and want the issue addressed.
Chair of Leitrim Irish Farmers' Association Pat Gilhooley believes the solution is to drain off the excess water and channel it off to St John's Lough.
