All aspects of the pig industry on show at two day fair at the RDS in Dublin.

Organised jointly by the Pigs and Bacon Commission the National Pig Fair is officially opened by parliamentary secretary to the Minister for Agriculture, Tom Hussey. The event at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS), is bigger than ever this year offering a greater range of trade stands.

During his opening address, Tom Hussey speaks about the anxieties of pig producers following a three year ban on the importation of breeding stock from Britain as a result of swine vesicular disease. However, he is optimistic that the importation of special breeding stock might be possible now because of the absence of the disease in some areas of Britain.
