Engine Alley perform the single 'Mrs Winder' and discuss parents, Captain Kirk and the perils of communal living.

Formed in Kilkenny in 1989, Engine Alley are Canice Kenealy on vocals and guitar, Brian Kenealy on guitar, Eamonn Byrne on bass, drummer, Emmaline Fallon-Duffy and violin player Ken Rice.

The band have recently released their debut album, 'A Sonic Holiday' produced by Steve Lillywhite on Mother Records.

Engine Alley perform their current single 'Mrs Winder' in The Rock Garden, the live music venue in Temple Bar Dublin.

Canice Kenealy explains Mrs Winder is a 53 year old woman,

She does her gardening, she takes lots of drugs and she doesn’t care about anybody or what anybody thinks of her because she’s very happy.

He adds,

Mrs Winder is everything you suspected your parents of being.

The band members are long-time fans of the American science fiction television series ‘Star Trek’.

Captain Kirk is an example for us all.

As well as working together the members of Engine Alley also share a flat. Brian Kenealy and Eamonn Byrne joke about the tension this creates between them.
