Sylvia Beach opens The James Joyce Museum at the Martello Tower in Sandycove on Bloomsday.

The James Joyce Museum was opened by Sylvia Beach, the woman who first published Ulysses in 1922.

Sylvia Beach tells RTÉ News that she thinks that the museum is very interesting and believes that James Joyce would approve.

He said that every word from Ulysses could be found in the dictionary but he can't say that for Finnegan's Wake.

At the ceremony, Sylvia Beach hoisted the Milesian banner, three crowns on a blue background, which commemorates an episode in Ulysses and signalled the official opening of the museum.
