Tom Cassidy hopes an exhibition of his work in America will provide new opportunities.
Irish artist Tom Cassidy believes a forthcoming exhibition of his work in the United States is the most important step in his career to date.
It's a major breakthrough for any Irish artist to be able to exhibit in the States.
Tom Cassidy says that his style of painting is popular in America and namechecks Andrew Wyeth and other realist painters as gods of this particular style.

Along with his painting Tom Cassidy is about to embark on a whole new industry of manufacturing figurines. The idea came from some sculptures he did of traditional Irish musicians which he describes as "ethnically Irish" as well as being produced in Ireland. He has received support for the project from the Galway County Development team.
