Turas á thabhairt ar thobar agus ar chill Gobnatain i nDunChaoin.

The feast day of Saint Gobnait on 11 February is celebrated in three main centres; Inis Oírr (Inisheer) off the County Galway coast, Dún Chaoin (Dunquin) in County Kerry and Baile Bhuirne (Balleyvourney) in County Cork.

It is believed Saint Gobnait was active in the sixth century. She is the patron saint of Dún Chaoin and of bees and beekeeping.

Bhí Seán Mac an tSithígh i nDunChaoin do lá an phátrúin agus an turas á thabhairt ar thobar agus ar Chill Gobnatain i nDunChaoin ansin.

On this day Dún Chaoin locals of all ages make a pilgrimage to Saint Gobnait's church an holy well. The holy well features a bust of Saint Gobnait by sculptor Cliodhna Cussen. A local woman explains the rituals that take place at the site, known as doing the rounds, or turas, on the feast of Saint Gobnait.

Máirín Uí Thuama a pupil of Scoil Naomh Gobnait has been learning about Saint Gobnait at school. Now and again Gobnait took sea journeys with her father. During one such voyage, their boat was forced to seek shelter in Ventry harbour on the Dingle Peninsula and this is how Saint Gobnait came to Dún Chaoin.
