Consumers have their pick of turkeys for the Christmas table this year with prices consistent across Ireland.

Irish turkeys are in plentiful supply this year, and shoppers will not be overcharged this December, say Dublin butchers. Prices for fresh turkeys are the same if not lower than those in recent years.

Starting at eighty five pence per pound for a fresh turkey, a frozen turkey from a supermarket is cheaper at 55 pence per pound, with prices similar all over the country.

For those considering cross border shopping it appears that in terms of turkey prices, that journey might not necessarily result in savings, as when currency is taken into account the birds are no cheaper, averaging seventy to seventy-five pence per pound.

There are plenty of turkeys around.
