The Silva Method teaches people a form of meditation that allows relaxation and helps individuals develop the mind.

Gordona Leonard, originally from Oregon and now based in Wicklow, teaches people the Silva Method of Mind Control.

She explains that Silva Mind Control works by getting the individual to use their inner mind as well as their outer conscious mind through a process of relaxation and meditation.

While Gordona Leonard believes systems like transcendental meditation based on the Theta waveband to be very beneficial, the Silva Method is based on the alpha waveband of brain functioning. She compares the brain to any piece of electronic equipment which functions best with the least amount of static.

The Silva Method offers participants a four day course over two weekends in which they learn to relax and meditate and bring positive thinking into their lives.  This is done, for example, by renouncing guilt so that the mind is no longer hampered. Each participant is taught that they are in charge of their own destiny through the medium of thought process.

It is the way we think that determines the way we see the world.
