Those aspiring to be the next President of Ireland are out and about meeting the people.

Candidates Dana Rosemary Scallon and Mary McAleese were outside Croke Park mingling with Mayo and Kerry supporters prior to the All Ireland Football Final. 

Mary Banotti attended a memorial service for Mother Teresa in Dublin. Speaking to RTÉ News Mary Banotti said she had given an opinion on a suggestion by Adi Roche that there be a presidency for children but had not been critical of Roche as an individual. A spokesman for Adi Roche had said that she would not be drawn into a slanging match with any other candidate. 

Derek Nally of Victim Support was getting ready to fly by helicopter to four county councils in an attempt to get his name on the ballot paper for the Presidential Election.
