The Cork Film Festival opens at the Savoy cinema in Cork, with a ceremony at the Metropole.
The week long festival which has a total of 16 full length feature films and 63 short films has 3 world premières with 'Royal Hunt of the Sun', 'I Can't I Can't', and 'Tomasa'.
Stars such as Sylvia Syms, Hattie Jacques, Barbara Mullen and Jack Palance, are expected to make personal appearances at the festival.
