Galway United v Longford Town

Galway United host Longford Town in Terryland Park at 7.45pm on Friday night in what already is seen as a must win game for both teams.

Galway have yet to add to their opening point earned away to Cork City during the opening weekend of the season, while Friday night's opponents Longford Town have thus far been unable to register a single point.

With 15 goals already conceded between the sides, both teams will be hoping to add to their meager goal tallies of two and one respectively.

A victory for either Galway or Longford will go a long way in taking away some of the early season pressure faced by both clubs.

Galway United manager Tony Cousins will be without Philip Reilly who is definitely out with a knee injury, while centre back Regi Nooitmeer is rated as doubtful after he picked up an ankle injury last Friday against St Pat's.

Nootimeer will face a late fitness test before the game and will be replaced by Billy Clery if the defender proves unfit to start.

Alan Keane will also be missing for Galway United as his recovery from a leg break last season has suffered a few setbacks.

Chris Armstrong is another long-term absentee after injuring his Achilles tendon in last week's triumph over Monaghan United in the eircom league cup.

Longford Town will be without the services of Dessie Baker who is out with an ankle ligament injury he suffered in pre-season.

He is set to remain unavailable for selection for another few weeks. Longford Town will travel to Terryland Park with the same squad that lost to Monaghan last week.
