Gardaí say they are keeping an open mind in relation to the discovery of the body of a man in his late 50s near the village of Glandore in Co Cork in the early hours of this morning.
The body was discovered on the side of the road just outside the village at 1.30am by a passing motorist.
The man, who is from the area, was pronounced dead a short time later.
The scene has been reserved for a technical examination.
The results of a post-mortem examination will determine the course of the garda investigation.
The man was last seen socialising in Glandore at around midnight.
Gardaí are appealing to people who traveled the Glandore to Leap Road between midnight and 2am to contact them at Clonakilty Garda Station on 023 882 1570.
