Details of an exhibition which tells the story of the work of poet and playwright Seamus Heaney have been announced at the National Library of Ireland.

The 'Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again' exhibition will draw on NLI’s extensive archive of the late writer's documents.

It will feature original manuscripts and letters, as well as unpublished works and diary entries by Mr Heaney.

It is to be housed in the new Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre at College Green, and is due to open next summer.

Mr Heaney was awarded numerous prizes over the years and won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1995.

He died in 2013 at the age of 74.

Minister for Culture Josepha Madigan said: "Not only does Seamus Heaney hold a special place in the heart of Irish people, he has also been a wonderful ambassador for Ireland and this unique exhibition will allow the National Library to tell the story of his work."
