An investigation is under way following the death of an elderly man in Co Monaghan.
The man's body was discovered on the side of the road at Carnaveigh, Castleblayney at around 4pm.
It is believed he was aged in his 80s.
A blue Opel Corsa was discovered crashed nearby and gardaí say the driver, a woman in her 20s, was not injured.
The man's body was removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where a post mortem examination will be carried out.
The road is closed for a forensic examination.
