A man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Co Louth.

It is understood the man, who is in his 40s, sustained facial injuries in the incident which occurred around midnight in Knockbridge village.

He was taken to Our Lady's Hospital in Drogheda for treatment.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

CCTV is being examined as part of the investigation.
