Parts of the country experienced their driest April in up to 67 years, with most areas recording their lowest rainfall in at least nine years.
According to the latest weather data from Met Éireann, all monthly rainfall totals across the country were below their long-term average.
Roche's Point in Cork saw just 16% of the normal rainfall for April, while Mullingar recorded just 21% - its driest April since the station opened in 1950.
Even the place that had the highest monthly percentage rainfall, Malin Head in Donegal, only had 64% of its normal average precipitation for the month.
The dryness was the result of the overall prevalence of high pressure over the country for much of the month.
But although it was dry, April was not unusually warm, with mean air temperatures close to or slightly above their long-term average in most places.
The warmest place across the month was Newport in Mayo, which had a mean temperature for April of 10.0°C, 1°C above normal.
It was cooler on the east coast, with Dublin Airport recording the lowest mean temperature for the period.
However, Dublin did see the highest one-day temperature during the month, with the mercury hitting 18.7°C on 8 April.
When it comes to sunshine, Shannon Airport had the dullest April in 24 years, while Knock Airport had the dullest April since 1996.
