Two teenagers have died and three others have been injured in a road crash in Co Donegal in the early hours of this morning.
The five teenage friends were driving home from a night out at a local disco when the accident occurred.
Their car went off the road between Quigley's Point and Whitecastle before crashing through trees and down into an embankment.
The single-vehicle crash happened at around 3.35am.
One of the teenagers was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second teenager was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Three other male teenagers in the car were taken to Altnagelvin and Letterkenny General Hospital where they are all said to be in a stable condition.
All of the young people involved in the crash were from nearby Buncrana and came from well-known and respected families in the town.
Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Rena Donaghey said: "It's another awfully sad day for Buncrana. We have lost two of our young people last night in a tragic road accident.
"Three are still in hospital also. Two young fellas just starting out in life, everything to live for, come from very respectable families. The community’s absolutely devastated and distraught over the news," she added.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses - particularly anyone who may have been on the Quigley's Point to Moville Road between 3am and 3.40am - to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 074- 9320540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
