Gardaí have kept two rival protests on trans rights apart in Dublin City and arrested one man.
One protest called Let Women Speak was called for Merrion Square at 12pm.
The Let Women Speak organisation has organised rallies across the UK, Australia and New Zealand against changes to transgender rights saying there is a "global assault of women".
British campaigner Kellie-Jean Keen-Minshull who is also known as Posey Parker travelled to Dublin with a group of supporters from the UK for the event.
A counter-demonstration, organised by the Trans Right Alliance, marched from Kildare Street to Merrion Square where garda barriers kept the two sides about 50m apart.
There was a considerable garda presence in the area with gardaí around and between the two groups and in the park.
There were also public order units in vans around the area.
Gardaí on the corner of Merrion Square South and Merrion Square East searched the bags of people approaching the Let Women Speak rally.
The Trans Right Alliance protestors chanted, let off sirens and played music to try to disrupt the speeches at the Let Women Speak rally and claimed there was a far-right element.
One of the groups involved, Trans and Intersex Pride said its counter protest "stood for bodily autonomy for all, including abortion rights and trans healthcare".
The supporters of Let Women Speak accused the counter-demonstrators of trying to silence women.
