Traffic diversions were put in place on the M50 earlier this evening after a bus went up in flames.

The incident occurred on the nouthbound carriageway between the Carrickmines and Dundrum North exits at around 7.45pm.

Four Dublin Fire Brigade engines with crews from Dun Laoghaire, Rathfarnham and Donnybrook Fire Stations responded to the blaze.

In a post on Twitter, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) said two lanes of the M50 between Junction 15 and Junction 13 were affected by the fire and that traffic diversions were in place.

Visibility on the southbound carriageway was also affected by smoke.

Gardaí said the road has since reopened and that no serious injuries were reported.
