Man in his 40s dies in Co Sligo road crash

A man in his 40s has died and a woman in her 30s is in a serious condition after a car crash in Co Sligo this morning.

Gardaí are currently at the scene of the collision, which happened on the N15 near Rathcormack at about 11.50am.

Two cars collided and the driver of one car, the man aged in his 40s, received fatal injuries upon impact.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger of that car was treated at the scene.

The female driver of the second car, who is in her 30s, was taken to University Hospital Galway by air ambulance where her condition is described as serious.

Both passengers of the second car were also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The road is currently closed as the scene is being examined by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who might have witnessed the collision, or who may have any information in relation to the collision, to come forward.

They want to speak to any road users who were travelling on the N15 between Sligo and Rathcormack between 11.30am and 12.15pm this morning. Anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are also asked to make it available to gardaí.
