Investigations are underway after a Waterways Ireland worker lost his life in an incident on the Shannon Erne Canal in Co Leitrim.
It is understood the man died tragically as he was carrying out work near a canal lock.
He has been named locally as Patrick Moffatt from Drumboylan, Co Leitrim.
His body was found at Lock 16 near Leitrim village, shortly after the alarm was raised when he did not return from work last night.
Gardai and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating the incident.
Waterways Ireland has offered its sincere sympathy to the man's family and friends.
