The EU leaders’ summit in Brussels today is set to be delayed due to the ongoing Ukrainian peace talks in Minsk.
French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are leading the marathon talks in the Belarus capital which ran through the night.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin are also participating.
The question of Ukraine is top of the agenda for EU leaders but the informal summit cannot begin until Ms Merkel and Mr Hollande return to Brussels.
The summit will also be the first EU leaders meeting for Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
The country's debt crisis is not on the summit agenda as the matter is being dealt with by the eurozone finance ministers.
However, Mr Tsipras will be given the chance to address the meeting and his comments will be closely watched given the fact that last night's eurogroup meeting ended in disarray.
Greek sources say the talks ended without agreement as eurogroup ministers wanted the current EU-IMF bailout extended - something the government in Athens is refusing to do.
Discussions are due to resume on Monday in Brussels.
