A group of children from a small primary school in North Kerry have been performing their story at the Eucharistic Congress about a ciborium or chalice used at masses in their area, which was lost for around 150 years.

The ciborium was hidden by a priest in a bog in the late 1700s to prevent it from being seized at a time of religious repression.

It was re-discovered by chance in 1923 in a sod of turf cut on the same bog.

The story of the Duagh ciborium has been part of local folklore for generations, and the children from Lyreacrompane National School spent months preparing for today's performance.

The children hope their performance at the Congress will help put the tiny locality of Lyreacrompane on the map.
