The Dáil has concluded debate on the financial resolutions arising from the Budget.
One of the measures - an increase of €0.02 per litre on petrol, and two cent per litre on diesel - comes into effect at midnight.
There had been speculation that the Government's majority could be under threat in the Dáil on tonight's votes.
But in the end it comfortably carried all the contested votes, with Independent TD Joe Behan swelling the Government ranks.
Excise duty increases on petrol and diesel were passed, which come into effect immediately, as well as many changes to the tax code which come into effect in the New Year.
They included the reduction of the €10 travel tax to €3; changes to tax bands and credits which will bring more people into the tax net and put more people on the higher rate; a new stamp duty system, with 1% on homes up to €1 million, and 2% on those worth more than that; and the abolition of a number of tax reliefs.
In the morning, the Dáil will hear Budget statements by party leaders, followed in the evening by the Social Welfare Bill, which is due to be passed by Thursday, and which reduces benefits, apart from pensions, by an average of 4%, or around €8 per week for most payments.
