Two men are recovering in hospital following a plane crash in Co Wexford.

The light aircraft in which they were travelling crashed around 6pm yesterday outside Foulksmills, near New Ross.

One of the men was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital and the other to Wexford General Hospital. The men are in a stable condition.

It is understood the pilot attempted a forced landing.The aircraft is badly damaged but there was no fire on impact.

Two air accident investigators were alerted by gardaí and they arrived at the scene at 9.30pm last night.

They are currently carrying out a site survey and an initial technical examination.

Attempts to remove the aircraft to the Air Accident Investigation Unit facility in Gormanston, Co Meath, will be made later where further technical examinations will be carried out.
