Funeral Masses for two of the four young women killed in Tuesday's horrific road crash in Galway have taken place.

19-year-old Marie Ní Chonaile from Baile na hAbhann in Connemara and 20-year-old Sarah Byrne from Headford in Co Galway were laid to rest this afternoon.

They died alongside their friends Teresa Molloy from Connemara and Sorcha Rose McLaughlin from Mulgannon in Co Wexford when their car collided with a truck on a bend on the main N17 road at Carrownurlaur, about two kilometres from Ballindine.

A fifth woman was critically injured in the collision, and is being treated at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

The victims were all students at NUI Galway.
