A man who become trapped under a boulder on a cliff face near Fair Head in Co Antrim has been rescued.
It is understood he suffered serious injuries and has been transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
The alarm was raised at 2.30pm when a member of the public heard cries for help at the bottom of the cliff.
A specialist coastguard team trained in cliff rescue found the man at the base of the cliff pinned by several large boulders that had fallen on him when he was about to begin climbing.
The Sligo based coastguard helicopter flew to Belfast to pick up a fire crew and equipment needed in the rescue.
Meanwhile, four people were rescued after getting into difficulty in a cave in Co Clare this afternoon.
It is understood the four got trapped while potholing at about three miles north of Lisdoonvarna.
One person managed to reach safety and raised the alarm at around 3pm.
A rescue operation was launched and the remaining pot-holers were taken to safety by rescue crews.
All are said to be safe and well and have been assessed by medical personnel.
