GAA players arrested over alleged assault

Two members of a Wexford GAA group on a weekend trip to Wales have been arrested by the police in connection with an alleged sexual assault.

Last weekend an alleged sexual assault took place in a hotel where the players were staying.

Following a complaint to the police by the woman involved, three members of the party were arrested by the police and taken to Aberystwyth Police Station for questioning.

One of the men was released on Monday and no further action will be taken in his case.

The other two men, one in his 20s and one in his 30s were released on police bail while the police make further inquiries.

The police in Aberystwyth have said that the two men on bail will not be named unless they are going to be charged.

It is understood that the pair are currently due back in Wales in April but this could change depending on police inquiries.
