As temperatures drop again this evening, AA Roadwatch has advised that drivers should take extra care, particularly on secondary roads and in sheltered areas, where ice conditions continue to exist.
Gardaí say that many roads are unpassable in Co Donegal, with conditions described as treacherous.
Main routes in Offaly, Westmeath, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim, Waterford, Wexford, Wicklow are also very frosty or icy.
Secondary and rural routes in most areas of the country are very poor.
