US President George W Bush has said - in his final address - that he has experienced setbacks and there were things he would have done differently, if given the chance.

In four days' time, Mr Bush will hand over the reins of power to Barack Obama.

After eight years in the Oval Office, Mr Bush made his final televised address last evening.

In it he accepted that like many of those who held the office before him he had experienced setbacks and he admitted there were things he would do differently if given the chance.

Once again he warned of the continuing threat from international terrorism.

He said while the US nation is now safer than it was seven years ago, after the 11 September attacks, the gravest threat remains another terrorist attack.

On his successor, Mr Bush said the story of Sen Obama reflects the enduring promise of America and his coming to power next Tuesday is a moment of hope for the whole nation.
