Youths in Greece have firebombed a police station next to the Exarchia district, where locals held a silent vigil for a teenager who died exactly one week ago.
Police fired tear gas at about 100 youths who had congregated, with similar numbers in Thessaloniki also vandalising a gymnasium before holing up in a university premises.
The vigils were held as another bank was targeted in Athens by firebombs, prompting a blaze.
Rubbish bins were also set on fire on the same avenue near the city centre.
At a vigil in the Greek capital, hundreds of young people sat in the central Syntagma Square, facing the Parliament, their candles alongside them on the ground.
Earlier in the day, about 300 students from the school 15-year-old Alexis Grigoropoulos attended also held a peaceful sit-in in the square.
Another vigil was held near the site where Grigoropoulos was killed, drawing both young and old who left flowers and other objects to remember the fallen teen.
