Gardaí in Cork are now treating as murder the death of a man whose body was found in suspicious circumstances in his home in Cork city on Sunday.
Preliminary post mortem results indicate that 62-year-old Donal Manley died of head injuries.
Mr Manley, who was a retired barman and originally from the Blarney area, had last been seen outside his home at lunchtime on Friday.
His body was found by gardai in the ground floor of his home at High Street, Capwell, on Sunday night after concerned neighbours raised the alarm.
Donal Manley, who had lived in High Street for the past 20 years, had sustained head injuries.
A number of items appear to be missing from the house although there was no sign of forced entry.
