Gardaí have finished interviewing the passengers and crew from the transatlantic flight affected by a security alert this morning.

The plane has been handed back to the Dublin Airport Authority.

The matter is under investigation.

At approximately 9.30am an Aer Lingus transatlantic flight travelling from New York to Dublin landed at Dublin Airport.

One of the crew members on the flight had reported finding a paper towel in the toilet of the plane, with a note on it saying there was a bomb onboard.

There were 221 passengers on board.

Gardaí from Dublin Airport and the Dogs Unit were involved in the operation.
