A four-year-old girl in southern France has suffered serious injuries to her face and back after being attacked by a lion at a zoo.
The girl was taken to hospital after one of the three lions at the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat zoo lept from his enclosure and attacked the girl who had walked past a security barrier and was standing close to the fence.
Police said her injuries were not life-threatening.
The girl's mother and uncle were also slightly injured.
