Senior Hamas leader and former Palestinian prime minister Ismail Haniyah has said that talks with the Fatah party are set to resume.
Mr Haniyah also said that his movement's control of Gaza is just temporary.
Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas has repeatedly said that he firmly opposes any dialogue with Hamas until it returns Gaza to his authority.
Mr Abbas dismissed the Hamas-led government after it took control of Gaza in June and appointed a new government based in the West Bank.
