Six people have been killed in a landmine explosion in eastern Afghanistan.
The six were described as hired militia fighters who had been working with coalition forces. They were killed in clashes with Taliban militants in Kunar province, which borders Pakistan.
In a separate incident in the southern province of Zabul, rebels attacked a convoy of civilian trucks supplying foreign military bases, burning at least 16 vehicles.
The convoy containing some 50 trucks was travelling from Bagram Airbase, the main US military headquarters just north of Kabul, to the international military airbase in the southern city of Kandahar.
It was the latest in a string of similar attacks targeting civilian convoys supplying foreign troops in southern Afghanistan, where the Taliban insurgency is at its fiercest.
