A pedestrian bridge has been installed in Leenane Co Galway following the collapse of a 100 year old bridge on Wednesday.
The century-old structure on the main N59 link road between Clifden and Westport collapsed after a landslide and flash flood during heavy rain.
The bridge carried up to 4,000 vehicles a day, including almost all of the area's tourist traffic. It was a link for motorists between Galway and Mayo.
A temporary bridge, capable of carrying cars and buses, is expected to be in place within ten days.
Local people and tourists are said to be delighted with the swift recovery action by Galway county council and the National Roads Authority.
