Electrical problems hit Galway water supply

There are disruptions to water supplies in parts of Co Galway due to electrical problems at the Luimnagh treatment plant.

There are disruptions to water supplies in parts of Co Galway due to electrical problems at the Luimnagh treatment plant.

The areas affected are Tuam, Athenry, Headford, Oranmore and Claregalway.

According to Galway County Council, it could be up to 24 hours before normal water supplies are completely restored to all the affected areas.

The council is arranging to make drinking water tankers available.
