All of the Tesco stores closed by police in the UK following a security alert yesterday have reopened.

A total of 14 supermarkets were closed in what some reports said was a bomb scare.

Officers from Hertfordshire, where the firm has its headquarters, said no one was hurt and there was no link to any form of extremism.

A criminal investigation has been launched by police in Hertfordshire.

Police said the closures affected stores in Lancashire, Suffolk, Dyfed Powys in Wales, Fife and Strathclyde in Scotland, Leicestershire, Humberside, West Mercia, West Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and London.
