Alan Johnston, the BBC reporter who was released yesterday after four months in captivity in Gaza, has been awarded an Amnesty International Award for his reporting on human rights.
Amnesty International's UK director, Kate Allen, said the judges had been 'determined' not to allow Mr Johnston's kidnapping to sway them.
The award was one of nine that was handed out at a ceremony in London to honour journalists for work in human rights reporting.
Alan Johnston's father, Graham, received the award on his son's behalf.
