Gardaí and the Defence Forces have launched separate investigations into yesterday's road crash involving a military truck and a commercial lorry near Granard in Co Longford.
The lorry driver and 14 soldiers sustained non-life threatening injuries but all were treated in hospital.
Five people were admitted for observation but they are due to be discharged from hospital later today.
One person was transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda where his condition is said to be comfortable.
The accident occurred at around 3.45pm on what is regarded as a dangerous stretch of the N55 about 2km from the town.
Local people have called for urgent action to be taken on a stretch of road that has seen several fatalities in the past ten years.
