15 hospitalised after Longford crash

The driver of the commercial lorry involved in this afternoon's road accident in Co Longford has been brought to Cavan General hospital.

The driver of the commercial lorry involved in this afternoon's road accident in Co Longford has been brought to Cavan General Hospital.

He is said to be in a stable condition.

15 people, including 14 military personnel, were injured in the crash, which happened when a military truck collided with a lorry near Granard, at about 3.40pm.

An Army spokesperson said the army truck was moving in convoy on the way back from range practice in Carna, near Athlone.

The spokesperson said none of the injuries were life threatening.
