New figures show that foreign nationals are now in the majority in parts of Dublin's north city.
The Central Statistics Office figures show that in three local election wards around O'Connell St, most of the population were born outside of Ireland.
The figures show that the population of the North City Ward in Dublin is now 55% foreign national and nearly one-third from outside EU.
Two other adjoining wards are over 50% foreign born. By contrast areas of Finglas, also on the north side of the city, are 95% Irish.
The statistics were compiled from the CSO figures by RTÉ's audience research unit.
The Dublin figures are more than five-times the national average and have come as a surprise to many analysts.
The ESRI wants the Government to encourage more integration, while the National Consultation Committee on Racism and Interculturalism wants the Government to introduce housing policies to discourage clustering of ethnic minorities.
