Cyclist killed in Co Clare collision

A cyclist has been killed after he was struck by a car on the northbound N18 at Carrigaron, Co Clare.

A male cyclist in his 30s has been killed after he was struck by a car on the northbound N18 at Carrigaron, Co Clare.

The accident happened at around 3.30pm this afternoon on the Limerick to Ennis Road.

The driver of the car involved and a second cyclist who was with the victim were not injured. The road has been closed for technical examination and diversions are in place.

Meanwhile, the victim of a fatal road accident on the main Dublin to Kells Road at Marty's Cross yesterday has been named.

41-year-old Patrick Fitzsimons of Arbraccan, Navan, Co Meath died after a road accident that happened at 3.45pm yesterday.
