The Mahon Tribunal has been adjourned until next week because of the illness of leading witness, Tom Gilmartin.

Yesterday, Mr Gilmartin's counsel told Judge Alan Mahon that his co-operation with the tribunal had taken its toll.

Chairman Mahon yesterday granted a request that Mr Gilmartin's evidence last for only three hours in the morning from today.

He was also told that Mr Gilmartin had had bypass surgery since his last appearance.

Today, the tribunal was told that Mr Gilmartin was not in a position to give evidence because of illness and all public hearings have now been adjourned until next Wednesday.
