Met Éireann has issued data showing this has been the warmest April on record in many parts of the country.
They say average maximum temperatures have been two to five degrees above normal so far this month.
The record-breaking temperatures were recorded at weather stations in Dublin Airport, Clones, Rosslare, Malin Head, Mullingar, Kilkenny, Cork, Casement Aerodrome and the Phoenix Park.
It was the driest April on record at Shannon, Kilkenny and Casement, and the sunniest April in Kilkenny and Cork Airport.
The UK Met Office also released figures today showing its set to be the warmest April since records began.
The provisional mean temperature for the UK was 10 Celsius - almost one degree above the previous record set in 1943.
Forecasters say this month is on course to set new records in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
