A survey in today's Daily Star shows Fianna Fáil down and the Greens up in the key battleground of the Dublin constituencies.

The poll, carried out over the St Patrick's weekend by Lansdowne Marketing surveys, shows Fianna Fáil down five points on its 2002 general election showing, to 32%.

Its partner in Government, the Progressive Democrats are down one point to 6%.

Fine Gael is up four to 18% in the capital.

Labour drops one point to 14% on its last general election showing.

The Greens are the biggest winners, up five to 13%.

The Sinn Féin vote in Dublin drops two points to 7%, while independents and others stand unchanged at 9%.

The 12 Dublin constituencies account for 47 of the 166 Dáil seats.

These results represent a boost for the Greens in particular, who could gain two seats in the capital.

Sinn Féin would be disappointed if the outcome was reflected in election results.

The figures will not come as a major surprise to the larger parties.
